ANBI Information
Stichting Barikat Kunst has been designated as an ANBI by the Dutch Tax Administration. ANBI stands for Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling, or Public Benefit Organisation. This page explains our public-benefit purpose, governance, activities, policy, remuneration and financial accountability.

Purpose and public-benefit identity
Established on 7 April 2026, Stichting Barikat Kunst is a non-profit foundation whose work serves the public benefit. We promote equal participation in culture and society, with particular attention to accessibility and the rights of persons with disabilities.
Statutory purpose
To support the social, cultural and civic participation of people who experience social, economic, physical, mental or psychological disadvantage, particularly persons with disabilities, in the Netherlands and internationally. The Foundation also promotes the development, recognition and practical application of the rights of persons with disabilities.
Fields of activity
We pursue this purpose through educational, cultural, artistic, health-related, media and sports programmes, public events, cooperation with public and international institutions, and projects that strengthen accessibility and full participation.
Non-profit principle
All income and assets are used exclusively to advance the Foundation’s statutory public-benefit purpose. No director or other person may treat the Foundation’s assets as personal property.
Allocation upon dissolution
Any remaining assets following dissolution must, in accordance with the articles of association, be transferred to an ANBI or another organisation serving a comparable public-benefit purpose.
Governance and decision-making
The Board is collectively responsible for strategy, oversight, sound financial management, implementation of the Foundation’s work and compliance with its articles of association and ANBI obligations.

Policy plan at a glance
Our current policy translates the statutory purpose into concrete public-benefit activities, responsible fundraising, careful asset management and transparent accountability.
Activities
The Foundation develops and supports accessible cultural programmes, film and arts activities, education, sport, public-awareness initiatives and international cooperation. Accessibility is considered from the start in programme design, communication and participation. Current work includes preparations for the International Barikat Film Festival and related panels, concerts, accessible sport and public events connected to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Sources of income
Income may consist of grants, donations, sponsorships, project contributions, funds, partnership contributions and other lawful income. The Foundation accepts funding only where it is compatible with its independence, integrity and statutory purpose.
Management of assets
The Treasurer oversees the financial administration and reports to the full Board. Funds are held securely and managed prudently. The Foundation does not retain more assets than reasonably required for continuity and planned activities.
Use of funds
All proposed expenditure is assessed against the statutory purpose, proportionality and the approved budget. The Board ensures that costs remain reasonable in relation to the activities and that funds are demonstrably applied to the public benefit.
Remuneration policy
Board members receive no remuneration for their duties. Only reasonable, documented expenses may be reimbursed. The Foundation currently has no salaried executive management. If staff are appointed in the future, the Board will establish an appropriate, transparent and market-aligned remuneration framework before any appointment is made.
First financial year
2026 activity report and financial statements
The Foundation’s financial year follows the calendar year. As Stichting Barikat Kunst was established on 7 April 2026, 2026 is its first financial year. Following the year-end close, the Board will approve and publish the 2026 activity report, balance sheet, statement of income and expenditure, and accompanying notes on this page no later than 1 July 2027.
